gin and tonic minus the tonic

west coast notebook entry #9
(being so weird at the party)

i have to wonder why the heck i’m here
oh you midwestern people,
aren’t you so quaint.
oh you writer people,
aren’t you so cute
with your angst & rebellion.

um, how can you hear anything at all
in this room
bellowing above
a woman feels good, her
little give of things
does your name tag say
hustler

i sit next to a daddy gay
& learn about grindr
I’M CALLING THE POLICE AT MIDNIGHT
she screams
so i sneak out
rolling up the hollywood hills
squeezing through those streets
as if anyone could.
feed the feral pussies,
& touch one finger to the moon–
MTV will never be that way again,
neither will i.
