Alternate universe enthusiast Marden Paul of Toronto put forward a theory several years ago that Dilemna people had all somehow crossed over into this parallel ‘Dilemma’ spelling universe and that’s why they feel discombobulated to discover that not only are they wrong but there’s also no trace of an N spelling anywhere in any dictionary in the history of this new universe!——http://dilemna.info/

i learned quite a bit speaking with the folks attending the DIY CULTURE IN THE SMALL PRESS workshop. another thing to add to the list of what that’s all about is– Learn By Doing.

i really didn’t know what to expect, heading up the first workshop i’ve ever been to. now i have a better understanding of what writers don’t understand about the small press (ha!) and what type of information they want/need. networking is soooo important even if we don’t want to say that out loud. thing is, you really don’t have to be a douche about it… being a part of a community, helping build that community–it’s a win win.

anyway, here’s a write-up about the thing and some community-building in action… by Tiffany T. Cole, one of the attendees and a very impressive person. lists freaking rock. sharing resources kick-ass. tiffany was so nice about my disorganization and unpreparedness. any time someone decides to get more involved, i’m a happy camper and consider this first one a success with ever better to come…

rather than being accidental

pretty sure the best laid plans
mean nothing
to the sharpie
on your name tag
to the misfitting sweater
and comes in a package underwear
you are chipped nail polish
the broadcast-live
crucifixion
unfiltered on design
the seed of doubt
mother nature uses to
reclaim
the broken
but there is no clean break
there is only sleeping at the wheel
bent
a contortionist running metal
burn one thing for another
the shelves are stocked
with gas ovens
and bottomless drops

take your pick, kitten
your secret is safe
with me
